The Western Ghats Hornbill Foundation (WGHF) is organizing a two day workshop on right of the forest, river and tribe during 25^th and 26^th October 2011 at Sahithya Academic Hall, Thrissur. This is being organized as part of the inaugural session of our one year long campaign.

Organization: Centre for Earth Science Studies (CESS) and State Bank Of Travancore.

Venue: Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Calicut centres. 

The primary objective of CESS is to promote modern scientific and technological research and focus on developmental programmes relevant to the country in general and Kerala State in particular. CESS undertakes studies in tune with these objectives in the fields of geosciences, environmental sciences, marine sciences and atmospheric sciences.

Yamuna Katha is a collaborative effort to understand how the river-city-dyad has formed over the years and what has been the relationship between the river, the people, the flora and the fauna. Yamuna Katha brings to a common zone, representatives of various stakeholders who are directly or indirectly connected with the river for a collaborative exchange.

Agragamee, which means, "pioneer", is a group of activists and thinkers committed to working with marginalized and underprivileged communities in the tribal districts of Orissa, in India. Our efforts at initiating a people-centred development have combined an issue-based approach with programmes for socio-economic development.

The National Institute Ecology has currently more than 600 members drawn from every State and Union Territory of India as well as several other countries. The membership includes Fellows who are elected by the NIE every year in recognition of their significant contributions to their chosen field of ecology/environmental science.

The ninth edition of the Green Building Congress 2011, Asia’s largest Green Building Conference & Exhibition, is scheduled to be held from 20th – 22nd October, 2011 at  Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India. This event is organised by the Indian Green Building Congress (IGBC) which is part of the CII- Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre (CII – Godrej GBC), a division of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Venue: Art & Aesthetics Gallery, JNU Campus, New Delhi

The School of Arts and Aesthetics, JNU is one of the few places in India that offers post-graduate degree courses in the theoretical and critical study of the cinematic, visual and performing arts. Moreover, it is the only place in India where these disciplines are offered in an integrated programme that allows students to understand the individual arts in a broader context of history, sociology, politics, semiotics, gender and cultural studies apart from being able to integrate the study of one art form with the other arts. The three streams of study offered at the school are Visual Studies, Theatre & Performance Studies and Cinema Studies.

A one day conference of the State Secretaries in charge of rural development, rural water supply and rural sanitation is to be held under the Chairmanship of Shri Jairam Ramesh, Minister of Rural Development and Drinking Water and Sanitation, on Monday, September 26, 2011.

In the conference, new policy interventions for accelerating the Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC), National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) and Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) and convergence between these schemes, MNREGS , and National Rural Livelihood Mission (Ajivika) will be discussed.
