The primary objective of CESS is to promote modern scientific and technological research and focus on developmental programmes relevant to the country in general and Kerala State in particular. CESS undertakes studies in tune with these objectives in the fields of geosciences, environmental sciences, marine sciences and atmospheric sciences.
Description:
Centre for Earth Science Studies (CESS), Thiruvananthapuram is organizing an essay competition for 10, 11 and 12 standard students to promote the concept of green technology ideas among the young generation on November 6, 2011 in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Calicut centres. The topic of the essay will be announced 15 minutes prior to the competition. The topic will be confined within the concepts of renewable energy sources, green concepts, global warming, climate change etc.
Each School can sponsor only a maximum of three students for the competition. Those who wish to appear for the competition may register their names with address, bio-data with three copies of recent passport size colour photographs, a self addressed stamped (Rs.6/-) envelope (26.5 cm × 11.5 cm) along with a certificate from the Head of institution to establish the standard in which the student is studying (10/11/12) and a statement that the Head of the Institution has gone through the notification for the competition with regard to the maximum number of students each school can sponsor.
The application for registering shall reach the below address on or before October 15, 2011. Students selected to appear for the competition will be issued hall tickets by post.
Memento, a certificate of merit and cash prize- first prize Rs. 10,000/- second prize Rs. 5,000/- and third prize Rs. 3,000/- will be awarded to the winners in a grand function organised at the Centre for Earth Science Studies. The Winners and one guardian accompanying the winner will be given a return II Class train fare or equivalent.
