All these decades from early twentieth century, storm water and artificial recharge of aquifers have seldom been an area of consideration for planners and policy makers. The country appeared to be oblivious to the fact that these too are integral part of the resources that we need to take care of before it starts hitting back at us in our daily lives!

Work taken up focussed on promoting direct seeding instead of transplantation in the paddy crop. As a result of this, about 30% reduction in water consumption was achieved covering about 1100 acres in 5 states. Farmers could also reduce their production costs by upto Rs.1400/acre.

This map shows the regions in the country that are regularly affected by floods.

The major flood prone regions are Punjab, Haryana, most of the Gangetic plains including Uttar Pradesh, North Bihar and West Bengal, the Brahmaputra valley, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, and South Gujarat.

These two maps indicate the percentage of districts affected by fluoride, in each state of the country and also gives data of the range of fluoride concentration in drinking water in each state.

The Sehgal Foundation is one of the leading nonprofit organizations working in the Mewat District of Haryana. It has established an Institute of Rural Research and Development (IRRAD) in Gurgaon, Haryana which has four centers; the first one for Program Implementation, the second one for Rural Research, the third one for Policy, Governance and Advocacy, and the fourth one for Capacity Building of the villagers.

IRRAD's mission is to implement Integrated Sustainable Village Development (ISVD) in select village clusters, build capacity in rural development, undertake rural research, improve village governance, and serve as a premier knowledge institution for rural development and poverty reduction in India. IRRAD implements programs and conducts research in the following areas: (a)Water Management; (b) Rural Health; (c) Income Enhancement including Agriculture; (d) Life Skills Education; and (e) Alternative Energy.

The Sehgal Foundation is looking to hire their Program Leader , Water Management. The key responsibilities in this role will be as follows: • Collecting information about water related issues and create digitized mapping • Conceptualize the probable solutions to water related problems and implementation through community participation

The PAHELI report (Peoples' Audit of Health Education and Livelihoods) is a rapid assessment of the prevailing status of human development in a district and covers four major sectors: life and livelihoods, water and sanitation, mother and child health, and education and literacy. The design and execution of PAHELI was done by Pratham and PAHELI district partners.

This presentation describes the efforts made by Carrier Aircon, Gurgaon at water conservation. This paper and board manufacturer has brought about a reduction in specific water consumption from 173 cu m/MT of paper (2003-04) to 130 cu m/MT of paper (2006-07), while waste water discharge over the same period has come down from 169 cu m/MT to 103 cu m/MT.

This paper and board manufacturer has brought about a reduction in specific water consumption from 173 cu m/MT of paper (2003-04) to 130 cu m/MT of paper (2006-07), while waste water discharge over the same period has come down from 169 cu m/MT to 103 cu m/MT.

This paper published in the journal Agricultural Engineering describes the findings of a feasibility study on groundwater recharge, which was undertaken through two recharge tube wells constructed in the bed of old Sirsa branch canal in North East Haryana.
