Sanitation and Hygiene

Targets and current status of sanitary infrastructure construction under Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) of all districts across India. This data covers details about household latrines (APL and BPL), school and balwadi toilets, Rural Sanitary Marts. The target to be reached and current status of each district is provided. The data is updated on daily basis.

A participatory survey that covered 28 districts of Karnataka and 17,200 households across 172 gram panchayats (GPs). The survey covered all aspects of domestic water and sanitation.

Study of 162 NGP villages awarded the Nirmal Gram Puraskar (NGP) award in 2004-05 and 2005-06.

All-India numbers for rural and urban access to improved and unimproved water supply and sanitation for the years 1990,2000, 2008. The same data is available in a standard format for all countries of the world.

The presentation "A decade of TSC - Progress Achieved and Lessons Learnt" has data and graphs on TSC financial allocations, actual expenditures and expenditure efficiency at various levels (household, district, school etc.), how different states and the country as a whole are doing in terms of achieving 100% sanitation, NGP awards etc.

Survey of school sanitation in seven blocks of Mysore district. The survey analysis aimed at exploring the availability and usage of infrastructure in schools regarding water and sanitation. Further, it also tried to explore the personal hygiene practices prevalent among school children, most importantly the handwashing habit.

Sanitation infrastructure construction at a monthly level for all districts across India. Data is accessible from 1999 to 2011. Details include Household latrines (APL and BPL), Schools and Anganwadi toilets, Rural Sanitary Marts data.

Water supply information (LPCD) and number of water sources of different types such as open wells, bore wells, mini-water supply, piped-water supply, household taps. Sanitation information such as number of Nirmal Gram Yojana latrines, community and household latrines (required and existing) is available for all habitations across Karnataka.
