Mapping drought patterns and impacts: A global perspective – A research report by IWMI

Characteristics cover various aspects of droughts – from global distribution of meteorological and hydrological drought risks to social vulnerability and indices related to water infrastructure.

The The Strengthening Information Society Research Capacity Alliance (SIRCA) Program establishes and brings together the endeavors of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC, Canada) and the Singapore Internet Research Centre (SiRC, Singapore) to identify future research leaders, particularly emerging researchers who are relatively new to ICTD/Information Society research and to facilitate their development through the support of research grants.

The SaciWATERs joined the Cap-Net Global Network in 2009 as one of its South Asian partners to create the SaciWATERs-CapNet Network (SCaN). SCaN is a platform for partnership towards capacity building in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) across the South Asia region. It consists of autonomous regional and national institutions and individuals committed to capacity building in the water sector. It aims to strengthen the human and institutional capacity by adopting an integrated approach within the water sector in South Asia region through education & training, research, knowledge based development, advocacy and networking.

The Water Channel was launched at the World Water Forum in 2009 in Istanbul as a partnership of MetaMeta Communications, Nymphaea, UNESCO-IHE, and Cap-Net. The idea was to support education and awareness in water by making video material available that is often scattered and easily lost. It wanted to 'touch' its visitors and to help inspire them to work towards a world of better water management. The first year exceeded the expectations in terms of uptake and content! Joint projects were carried out with a wide variety of organizations and new partners joined in.

International Development Research Centre (IDRC) supports applied research to find local solutions that will have lasting impacts on communities around the world.
The IDRC research awards aim to provide exposure to research for international development through a program of training in research management and grant administration under the guidance of IDRC program staff.
This competition is for positions starting in early 2012. The number of awards varies each year. Approximately 15 awards will be offered in 2012.
