PJRB-SPARC has compiled an extensive database of Central Government and Punjab State Government schemes for agriculture and agriculturists. In this ToT, an overview will be shared about these schemes and how to enable farmers to avail of their benefits.

In the ToT, participants will learn about the internationally accepted principles that govern Conservation Agriculture (CA), its practice globally and in India and join networks for this profitable, resource efficient and health giving method of agriculture. The curriculum is based on FAO guidelines and enriched by visits to fields practicing this method in Punjab.

Access to freshwater is essential for all life and is a human right recognised by the United Nations. However, millions of people around the world face water scarcity, poor water quality, and inadequate sanitation.

Urbanization has posed challenge on water resources in cities. Both the water quantity shortage and deteriorated water quality are the prevailing issues in the cities. Physical losses and non-revenue water are the major concerns of water supply systems in cities.

HIGHLIGHTS

The pressure on the water resources in India is on the rise. The available water resources in the country are highly variable. For example, the average annual rainfall in India varies considerably from one region to another; it is as high as 1000 cm in the Northeast and as low as 10 cm in western Rajasthan.

Entering its second year, the Graduate Program of Water Science and Policy 2018 at Shiv Nadar University envisages a multi-disciplinary classroom, engagement and content delivered by some of the best minds globally – experts on water who have worked on ground realities, made policies and initiated change.

"Large parts of the world, irrespective of their level of economic development, are at the cusp of severe environmental crises. In these regions, the operations of extractive projects such as large scale plantations, mining and industrial development have negated or worsened the economic, social and physical wellbeing of communities in their neighbourhoods and beyond.

The training programme will follow a mix method approach involving lectures, in-class exercises, interactive discussions and audio-video training support. A full-day field exposure visit will be organised for participants to explore best management practices on RWH and DWWTs.
