The School of Environmental & Earth Sciences, North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon works in the area of environmental awareness, resource conservation, geological explorations, field visits and social activities in the field of environment, geology and geography. It is recognized as a key resource centre by the Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Department of the Government of Maharashtra. Over a period of 10 years the School has emerged as a centre of quality teaching, research & extension activities in environmental & earth sciences. It has state of art equipments and facilities for research in identified thrust areas.

The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, one of the oldest, non-sectarian philanthropic organisations in India, was set up by Sir Dorabji Tata with the prime purpose of encouraging learning and research in the country, of meeting costs of relief during crises and calamities and of carrying out worthwhile charitable activities. The Trust’s vision of constructive philanthropy has been sensitive to the fast-growing needs of a developing nation, while the work initiated by it holds contemporary relevance as it continues to support innovative enterprises in development.

Using the data generated from a baseline survey on a sample of 6,990 households covering six districts, this paper attempts to assess the relationships between agriculture, food security and nutrition for children, adolescents and married women of reproductive age.

IIT Bombay is organising Workshop on "Environmental Statistics for Professional" jointly with TSEC, Mumbai.

The objective of the proposed Four Day Training Workshop on Environmental Statistics is aimed at familiarizing the teaching community on the application of appropriate statistical techniques, exclusively to environmental systems. The faculty will demonstrate application of various probability and statistics techniques to environmental problems. The training would hopefully help in teaching the subject at their respective Institutions, in a structured manner.

A large part of the state of Maharashtra continues to face acute scarcity of water due to scanty rainfall, which has had a serious impact on the livelihoods of people who live in these areas. This article "Ajuni Kordech Aad" meaning "The wells are still dry" published in the magazine Anubhav highlights the extreme hardships, lack of employment opportunities, forced migration due to negative impact on agriculture and livestock, and poverty and deprivation that people living in these areas have to face due to this water scarcity.

This article in Marathi from the magazine Anubhav titled 'Thembe thembe samruddhi' meaning 'Prosperity with every drop' highlights the situation of acute scarcity of water in the state of Maharashtra and argues that this has been a barrier to the progress of the state leading to dire poverty and deprivation. 

The camera wanders through the states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra and records the profound traditional science of the people. “Harvest of Rain” analyses a wide variety of water harvesting systems as a function of differing ecological terrains
