The INSAIT professional society was launched at Dharwad, India in the year 2000. So far INSAIT has organized two national conferences and one International Conference, since its inception in the year 2000. The first national conference on Agro-Informatics was organized in June 2001, at the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad and the second national conference on Agro-Informatics and Precision Farming was organized in December 2009 at UAS, Raichur. The fifth International Conference of the Asian Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture (AFITA), Japan was organized by INSAIT in November 2006 at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
