Renuka raises crucial questions
Nobody is clear about the need for a dam in Renuka valley. Despite this, the people of the valley are being displaced without adequate compensation. Posted on 18 Jul, 2017 05:48 AM

When I meet Puran Chand, an activist in the forefront of the anti-Renuka dam struggle, he dictates from the two much-thumbed pages of his notebook the several objections he has against the government’s plan for the rehabilitation of people displaced by the Renuka dam.

The opening of the header tunnel for Renuka dam has already been constructed.

Think about water while watching these movies
Shimla celebrated World Water Day 2014 with students of Bishop Cotton and St. Thomas School who watched movies and participated in discussions on water conservation. Posted on 31 Mar, 2014 10:29 PM

People learn and retain better through visual media. That's a fact. So what better way to bring attention to topics around the themes of water than by screening movies? That was the thought process behind organising an event on World Water Day with school students in Shimla.

Delhi’s ground water hits rock bottom
Too many people, too much pollution and too little water – that's Delhi’s water supply situation in a nutshell. Posted on 20 May, 2013 12:40 PM

Green pastures and meadows, tall trees, lakes, wells and the river…those are my memories of Delhi. It wasn’t too long ago that one woke up early to the sounds of lawns being watered, children running off to school and people walking in the parks. A flurry of activity but quite different from what it is today.
