Gandhigram Trust, Dindigul and Arghyam, Bangalore co-hosted a Sanitation Partners' Meet on November 9-10, 2017 at Dr. Soundram Manimandapam, Gandhigram Trust, Gandhigram. The meeting was attended by various NGOs from across the country, the district collector, the project director of DRDA and block level officers.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Institute, Kodaikanal is a non-profit training and development organization dedicated to providing practical solution to a wide range of water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental issues across South Asia. It is one of the few institutes in India offering both formal and non formal courses in water and sanitation throughout the year. It has launched two formal courses which are job oriented. The formal courses are affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

Rapid Assessment survey of Kodaikanal lake - ENVIS Centre (TN)This document by the Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu highlights the importance of the Kodaikanal lake as an important tourist destination and warns that this freshwater lake is under the threat of getting polluted and its biodiversity endangered.

The document presents the findings of the study that aimed at assessing the physico-chemical and biological quality of the Kodaikanal lake.

Evidence indicates that unrestricted tourism activities have led to high use of plastic bottles, glass bottles, plastic bags, causing high levels of pollution and silting of the lake. Damaged fibreglass boats left inside the lakes also pose a serious threat to the lake ecosystem.
