A day at the Rainwater Harvesting Park in Bangalore

On World Water Day, India Water Portal organized various events across Bangalore in partnership with The Alternative. The goal was to get citizens to understand the gravity of the water situation in the city and ponder the different measures they could take to help manage this problem. IWP volunteer Sucheta Ramprakash attended one such event at the BWSSB's Rainwater Harvesting Park in Jaynagar, Bangalore. The experience left such a mark on her that she decided to take her colleagues at PVH Corporation on a similar guided tour.

The group was shown different rainwater harvesting installations and devices along with explanations on how they worked. BWSSB personnel also told them how to recharge groundwater and how to implement rainwater harvesting in homes. The session ended with the group watching a film on Bangalore’s water supply system.

Below are some pictures from the event.
