Posted on 27 Jun, 2011 11:52 AMNational Environment Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) in association with University of Liverpool (UK) is conducting online survey on the functioning of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in India and the UK. The purpose of the survey is to reflect on the experiences of professionals with EIA in the past and also to look ahead to the future role of EIA.
The first three parts of the survey is based on what your experiences of EIA are while the fourth part relates to what EIA should be like. The survey is anonymous and completing it will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes of your time. Please note the ‘save’ option in the survey does not actually let you save and come back to the survey later.

We CAN Control Corrosion in India, an Open Source Knowledge Management group has launched an online survey for Corrosion Management in India on 15 August 2010. Survey response for the period August-December 2010 reveals the importance of creating awareness for corrosion in India. Nearly half of the survey respondents say Little Focus is there for corrosion awareness in India.

Groundwater externalities of surface irrigation transfers under national river linking project: Polavaram – Vijayawada link
Posted on 25 Aug, 2010 05:00 PMThis document published by IWMI and CGIAR describes the details of the Polavaram project, which has been planned by the state of Andhra Pradesh as a multi-purpose project:
- to provide irrigation benefits to the upland areas
- to provide a water supply to the industries in Visakhapatnam city, including the Steel Plant, for the generation of hydropower
- for the development of navigation and recreation facilities.
The project envisages the construction of an earth-cum-rock filled dam that is 1,600 m long across the Godavari River at Polavaram, and about 42 km upstream of the Godavari Barrage at Dowlaiswaram.
