Would like to incorporate your projects on water and sanitation in our cycling route - Looking for your feedback

Dear India Water team,

I am writing you in hopes of establishing a long term volunteer relationship with your organization. I have always had an interest in small scale appropriate technologies that can be owned, maintained and operated at a community level. Throughout my college career I have dedicated much of my extracurricular time to founding and developing our local non-profit community-bike-toolbox, The SLO Bike Kitchen, which is geared towards education and community empowerment. Now as my college career is winding down I would really like to combine my passion for cycling and water justice into a global cycling trip starting this June. I would like this trip to act as my "continuing education," and have my route revolve around different water education and sanitation projects

My best friend and partner, Lauren Cook, and I are planning this world bike tour starting in June 2012, just after I graduate with my Bachelors in Environmental Engineering from Cal Poly. In an attempt to get a better understanding of the breadth of water and sanitation projects currently in use, we intend to cycle between aid projects in the developing world.

We want to learn more about global water and sanitation issues, taking photographs, and offering our hands and time in any way to the local communities and NGOs. Ultimately, we want a new education, one not found in books, but rooted in cultural awareness and the realities of our global community.

We have thoroughly read through your website and would love to work with and support the India Water Portal by helping to develop your database of existing projects throughout all of our cyclo-travels. We would like to work with you and talk to you about incorporating your projects into our cycling route.

All of our exploits will be tracked on our blog: www.smittenbycycles.org

We look forward to any feedback that you have.

Thank you,

Brant Haflich and Lauren Cook
