What should the ideal yield be from a borewell 250 feet deep?

Hello,

We have 2 borewells approximately 250 feet deep,  diameter of borewell is 6" and are using 1.5HP motor with delivery pipe of 0.5" to draw water from the borewell in a society of 250 families in Pune.

  • We have not used the borewell snce last 8-9 months until last week when we started to use it. We calcuated the yield of the borewell and its approximately 650 LPH per bore, but it does not give such yield for long hours say 3-4 hrs.
  • We have few doubts and would be really great if you can give put some light:
  • Is this yield satisfactory for all the units? What should the average yield be, if this is not good? When we approached builder who drilled this bore, we were told that the bore yield is not good because we have not used it for long time and there is nothing he can do now. Logically, I am not able to buy this because we have bore recharge system here and in addition we didn't draw water out of it. It should ideally be in better shape rather in such case.
  • They are telling us to try doing some flushing of the bore, saying it will cost us Rs. 35 per feet. Does bore-well flush help in general. I know its not guaranteed, but just asking based on past experience.

The water coming from borewell is clean and we see no signs of mud or smell in it.
