Hi,
I am a student of post graduate course in environmental Architecture from Mumbai working on a design of a semi-urban housing. I am planning to use wasterwater treatment of greywater from kitchens and bathrooms and use the treated water for irrigation of green roofs, landscape and flushing. Now the system I intend to use comprises of anaerobic baffled filter, planted gravel filter( reed bed ) and I want to avoid the final aerobic polishing pond since the area requirement for it is becoming huge which is not available on site. So the achieved BOD values with planted gravel filter are upto 10 mg/L. I believe these are sufficient for irrigation purposes. But can I use this water for flushing purposes too? What are the standards according to CPCB ?
