My architect has designed a plan where a servants toilet is placed at basement level. The sewage line lies above the level of the toilet drainage and therefore the architect has suggested that we make a soak pit in the basement garage for the waste from the servant's toilet. There is no provision for a septic tank. We have a sump for rain water which is connected to an overflow recharge pit, that is placed some 8 feet from the soak pit.
I have a couple of questions. Can a soak pit be placed within city limits where sewage lines are provided? If so, what are the ways by which the sewage can be treated to safely remove disease causing bacteria etc. Is the soak pit placed too close to the rain water recharge well?
Any advise would be welcome!
