One inch water yield of borewell,635 ft deep in Bangalore, Karnataka - Is the water sufficient or should I dig at another point?

Dear Sirs,

It's great to come across a forum like this with many water experts helping out peoples. Thanks for that.

Last week i dug borewell at Dasarahalli near Hebbal Bangalore. Our plot is east facing and there is small mountain at 250 feet from the plot in the North-west direction. Terrain gradually slopes from that small mountain to our site and gradually slopes down.

A geologist visited our site and marked the point in the North East direction[20 degrees] by taking the reference of the near by borewells. He took these points as reference. The plot next to our site[right side] has borewell and has half inch yield water and the depth is around 450 feet. the plot to the right also has borewell water but not sure of the details. Just 70 feet from our plot in South direction there is borewell water and they got around 2 inch water at 520 feet [initial source was at 480 feet]. 60 feet to our site in NE direction there is municipality borewell with yield of 2 inches.

We dug the borewell last week and loose soil was there till 8 feet and then it got little hardened. We hit the rock at 60 feet and the steel casing was put for 65 feet. There after only dust was coming[ term used by Borewell person] and the rock powder in grey color was coming out till 485 feet. At 485 feet we got little black color powder and they said it is a weak water source. We continued drilling and at 525 feet we got another water source[little gravel was there and black color powder was coming out.]

After this Borewell people put water inside to clear the cracks and started digging till 635 feet.  We couldn't see any change in dust coming out after 525 feet till 635 feet since water got mixed up  and only sludge like material was coming out. We stopped at 635 feet and borewell person said that the water yield is 1 feet and i need to put 2 hp submersible pump. I was disappointed as i was expecting 2 inch water yield.

Kindly help me and give your expert opinions.

1. Can i dig another 300 feet further ??? Any chance to get more water cracks and get 2 inch yield?

2. Should i chose another point and start digging for another 600 feet in the plot?

3. Is this 1 inch water good enough for 2 families? If so till what depth should i put the submersible pump?

4. Will i face water problems in summer? Will it dry up?

5. Since the whole area below 60 feet is rocky how will be the quality of water?

6. Some people said water at 900 - 100 feet is not good for consumption as it will have lots of minerals?

Thanks, Senthil.
