Need to know the maximum depth of borewell in Bangalore,Karnataka

Hello,

I am planning to buy a flat in Bangalore (K.R. Puram area - near Medihalli). When I asked about the water situation in this area to the builder of the apartment, the Marketing guy told me that there is no water problem and there won't be any water problem in next 5-10 years in this apartment. I asked him why he says so. He gave me following reasons - (a) there are 4 lakes near to that area (actually all of those are 2-3 kms away from the apartment) and (b) there is a 1000ft deep borewell in the apartment.

I was bit confused with 1000ft deep borewell logic - if there are so many lakes around that area, the water-level should be higher. So why so deep borewell? Is it possible that water is at higher level, but the builder has put it deep because to take care of future need (in case water level goes down)? Or is it that there is really a water problem and the builder had to dig 1000 ft to get water?

What can be the maximium depth of borewell in Bangalore?

Thanks for all help.

Budd.
