I am staying in a village of taluka Vasai Virar near Mumbai city. Majority of the houses in the village have their own borewell for household purpose, as well as for farming. Nowadays few private well owners have started water business by selling water to private builders for construction purpose and to industries. All these tankers are extracting huge amount of water, lowering the water level in villages.
Now we are facing problem for drinking water. Can anybody guide me with a suitable groundwater act by which we can appeal to concerned government authority & stop such extraction of water ?
As groundwater is for all, can any private well owner extract any quantity of water without permission from government authority?
