I stay in Homtech Shristi apartments which is just few meters away from the Vibhuthipura Lake in LBS nagar. I am writing this mail to get some advice/ consultancy services on few solutions that have come up during the association meeting to overcome the water crisis that we are facing currently
We had two borewells which were yielding well until recently and one of them has kind of dried up and the other one has very low yield now. We were considering to implement one or a combination of the following solutions to reduce the water purchase.
1. Drill another bore well and use the dried up bore well for rain water harvesting. By saying harvesting what we thought of doing is to collect the rain water and direct it to the dried up borewell. Will it recharge the borewell after few years and improve the yield?
2. Since our basement is at the lake level the builder has kept a small pit/well at the basement to collect the seepage water and pumps it to the drain so that the water does not collect at the basement. This well has water through out the year and currently we use it for gardening and car washing. We thought of using this water for flushing the toilets by drawing additional lines to every bathroom. For 24 apartments the estimated cost is around 1.25 lakhs. Some basic sand filtering is also considered which is not included in the cost mentioned
3. Instead of using the water from the pit we thought of drilling a well up to 20 ft so that we get much better/cleaner water and use it for flushing.
We need your advice on which of the above options or combination will be the most efficient, cost effective and long term solution. Also wanted to know if you provide any consultancy service like doing a site visit to have a clear understanding on what the current situation is and to recommend on a best solution including water harvesting based on the resources available currently.
Best Regards
