How can we know the capacity of a borehole? For long should the V-notch be held in place?

My query is regarding borehole capacity and the time factor involved. How should I calculate the capacity of the a borehole? I screened the 'V notch' process but I am confused regarding the time factor.

For how long should the process has to be done and if we get any yield will it be for 24 hours continuously? If not, how should I know the time interval of the output? If, lets say, the yield is 3 litres per second, will it be a continuous yield or not?
