Please confirm whether any alternate chemical / salt can be used in place of Sodium Chloride for Soft water plant regeneration as usage of the same is leading to High TDS effluent problem. Need of this request and end usage of the requested information is to meet the Effluent discharge standards set by the local Pollution control Board. We are in Bulk drug manufacturing industry. We are using softener plants of with (Capacities : 80 KL / per regeneration and 100 KL / per regeneration ). TDS Levels in the reject are ranging from 15000 to 18000 mg / lt.Reject volume is about 5.5 KL.
Our requirement for the reject is with less than 5000 mg / lt TDS without any increase in the volumes. What steps can be taken to ensure the above mentioned end result?
