Hi,
I am a newbie to this site and I am glad that I discovered it.
I live in an Apartment in Panduranga Nagar, J.P.Nagar, Bangalore. We thrive on Borewell water for all purposes as we are yet to receive the Cauvery water connection. There is no Water treatment plant in our apartment and the ground water is directly fed to the individual apartments.
The water is a bit harder and hence I started looking out for a Water Softener, primarily for washing purposes (clothes and utensils). While looking at the options for Water softener, came across the product "Zero-B WATER SOFTENIZER" from Ion Exchange. It is in this regard, I had a couple of clarifications to make and thought will ping this forum for some expert advice:
* The sales person who came from Zero B measured the TDS of the water which was at 514 but had not brought the Hardness measurement kit. He mentioned that the Hardness of water would typically be half of the TDS, so ~250. Is this a valid assumption to make and would the Zero B water softener be the right choice for this?
* I am also looking at buying a water purifier for my house and not sure whether to go for UV purifier or an RO purifier. Some claim that for the given TDS, UV should suffice (some of my neighbors have UV water purifiers) and vice versa. Which one would you recommend? Also there is a possibility that we would soon get Cauvery water (treated municipal water) connection for drinking purposes in which case would either of UV / RO based water purifiers still do the job?
Would appreciate any feedback / suggestion on this.
regards,
Ramki.
