I want to know what data should be taken while designing a septic tank for a small colony. As I am a civil engineer in railways and I have to maintain and construct so many septic tanks for 50 to 400 users. I am confused a lot as there is so many differences in different books. Please help me to ascertain the following data,
1. Quantity of sewage per capita per day
2. Quantity of solid waste " " "
3. Space for digested matter
Generally we clean tanks once in 2 years

Also, I will be happy to know the standard system of calculation to design water supply system of a colony of 2000 persons. Source of water is deep tube well and a stand by pump exists.
