We drilled a bore well at Chikmagalur, Karnataka, diameter is 6 inches, total depth is 462 feet, casing is done till 90 feet later we hit with a rock and the bore well was drilled on 13th Feb 2009. According to the driller we got water of around 1 inch at 150 feet, but we further proceeded with drilling hoping for more water. After drilling 200+ feet he said there is one more water point of 0.5 to 1 inch. Then there was a rock we came across and continued drilling hoping for water after finishing the rock. Since the rock drilling was not coming to an end, at 350 feet driller said we can stop the drilling as the water is sufficient for home use. We took a chance and asked him to drill till 450 feet so that rock drilling may end and we can get good water below that. But unfortunately even after drilling 450 feet rock drilling didn't come to and end.
My questions are:
1) Is there any problem in drilling the bore well to 450 feet after getting 1 inch water at 150 feet? Did we do anything wrong by doing this?
2) Driller was saying 450 feet depth is not a problem since the water will be stored in that space. Is it true? Is it a real advantage for us?
3) What capacity motor we have to use to pump water from 450 feet deep?Is it enough if we put 1.5 HP pump at 350 feet for the water we got?
