Is a borewell depth 1150 feet and water 1/2 inch good for residential purpose - What should capacity of submersible pump be ?

Hi,

I have dug a borewell recently in Bangalore, Kanakapura road. The water point was marked by the geologist, who had promised 3 sources of water, one is at 330 ft, another at 600 ft and 3rd at 750 ft. But when we started digging we didn't encounter any of the said water levels though we observed a little moisture at 660 ft. Now we continued to dig and reached 1050 where as per the driller rock had changed and there was moisture again, so our driller claims that there is 1/2" water there and it will be sufficient for residential purpose. We dig further 100 ft and stopped at around 1150. Now my question is:

  • Our driller claims that there is water of 1/2" at 1050 and it is not able to flow out because of high drilling pressure. If this is left for few days it will accumulate. Is this true.
  • If it is true that 1/2" water is available at 1050, how long will it continue to yield.
  • If I should pump the water , what capacity of submersible pump should be used?
  • I have heard that water at this deeper portion will not be good for consumption , is it true?
  • Can we go for scanning to see if yield can be predicted and improved in any way?
  • Is there any possibility that water source is improved over the time with more rains and rain water harvesting.

We are yet to do yield testing and at present borewell is sealed. Please answer my queries.

Thanks,
Manju
