Alternatives to sump & overhead tank - Was thinking of using plastic tanks - Is that feasible? Please share comments & critiques

Hi,

I have been thinking of alternatives to sumps and one of them could be a plastic tank (the kind used in overhead tanks) in the basement. Takes out the need for cleaning, etc. A possible solution to overhead tank would be just in time pumping. Any comments/critiques/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
