wH2O is an online, open-access academic journal for women and water issues around the world. Our vision is to publish a yearly journal; provide a centralized hub for women, water and sanitation information; and eventually, be able to provide research grants to facilitate more research in this space. Our mission is to advance women’s economic and social development by creating a centralized body of interdisciplinary research on water and sanitation issues.

wH2O: The Journal of Gender & Water at the University of Pennsylvania is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal on the nexus of gender and water. wH2O is now accepting abstracts from students, faculty, NGOs, writers, and professionals. wH2O is listed with the Library of Congress and seeks to be a hub of information for students, researchers, practitioners and governments alike.
Appropriate submissions include, but are not limited to, papers, case studies, opinion pieces, photo journalism, interviews and other research with a focus on gender and issues in water.Topics can be international or domestic, but must address the nexus of gender and water (which includes agriculture, sanitation, energy, and so on).
A one page abstract should be submitted by August 15, 2012 to wH2Ojournal@sas.upenn.edu. The next issue will be published in the Spring of 2013. Submissions do not have to be in final form, but abstracts should cover the scope of the research project. Decisions will be made by September 20th, 2012 and authors of selected abstracts will be invited to submit their paper for peer-review and editing.
