Society for Community Participation and Empowerment (SCOPE) is a non-government organisation headquartered in Dharwad. SCOPE works on improving NR based livelihoods in the villages, quality of life of the community, including better access to water and sanitation. Description:
SCOPE intends to strengthen Water & Sanitation (WATSAN) sector by training and mentoring potential candidates who can become professionals in the sector with desire to design community-led actions to improve sanitation in North Karnataka in particular and Karnataka in general. SCOPE aims to build capacities of these YPs to assume leadership roles in sanitation and water issues.
With this intention, a fellowship programme is being launched by SCOPE in collaboration with Arghyam Foundation from April 2012. The fellowship will be for a period of 18 months. The recruited Fellows will undergo training and mentoring in theory and practice of participatory development paradigm. They will get proficiency in development approaches and models in general and participatory approaches and models in particular. They will start understanding WATSAN sector, problem analysis tools, designing development approaches and activities. Field training comprising of village stays will be used to help them understand the problems in the sector and their relationship with problems in other sectors. The Fellows will work with two Panchayats to implement their learning with people, Panchayats, elected representatives and other institutions.
Qualification:
Graduate/post, graduate in Engineering, Agriculture, Agriculture engineering, Social work, Management, Social Sciences, Rural development, Law and Community medicine.
Experience:
- Should have 2 years experience/ exposure to development sector
- Should know Kannada and English languages.
- The project will be piloted in Gadag district and candidate should be ready to stay in the villages of that district. They should be also ready to continue their work in the district post fellowship.
- Candidates will be exposed and trained in variety of issues related to WATSAN and this will involve extensive travelling.
- The fellowship also involves extensive documentation of learning and hence candidates should be proficient in the use of computers (Each Fellow will be given with a laptop and a data card).
- The Fellowship will have quarterly evaluation system.
Age: Should be between 25-28 years
It is a residential program involving full time commitment by the fellows.
Candidates will be selected based on their qualification, aptitude and their commitment to rural development in general and WATSAN sector in particular.
Fellows will be paid a monthly fellowship of ranging from 15K to 20K depending on their experience.
