SICRISA invites applications for fellowships & writing workshops for climate change researchers - Apply by February 21, 2012

‘Support to Improve Climate Research and Information Services in South Asia’ (SICRISA) is a two-year project which aims to increase the quality and quantity of climate change research from South Asia. This will be achieved by training and mentoring South Asian scientists through fellowships and writing workshops, and by publishing two special editions of journals.Description:

Climate change researchers from South Asia are invited to apply to participate in a new fellowship programme and/or a residential writing workshop to be held in South Asia in 2012.

Through fellowships and residential writing workshops, South Asian scientists and social scientists will be trained and supported to:

  • Publish in peer reviewed journals
  • Write for different types of publication aimed at a range of audiences
  • Increase their influence on policy
  • Raise the profile of their research through the media.

Applications are open to researchers from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Pakistan, who are working on any aspect of climate change research. Participants should be early/mid career researchers, although more established researchers may be considered.

Approximately 80 researchers will be selected to participate in fellowships and/or writing workshops. We anticipate that 20 fellowships will be offered, and 15 participants will be selected for each of four writing workshops.

Please note that the writing workshops will be held in English and papers must be written in English.

Candidates will be selected through an application process which is anticipated to be highly competitive. However, unsuccessful candidates will have the opportunity to benefit from online networks and access to guidance materials on the project website.

Last date to apply: February 21, 2012 (17.00 Delhi time).
