Description:
Energy poverty is defined as having little or no access to electricity and relying on fossil fuels for daily activities, such as cooking and lighting. Did you know that the majority of India’s rural population has no access to electricity? Rural electrification through the centralized grid system has been slow and wanting. So, the fastest and environmentally sustainable solution to the problem of energy access lies in decentralized renewable energy systems. Where best can one demonstrate solutions to rural energy access but in the state with the largest rural population; Bihar.

Greenpeace has been working on the issue of energy access & renewable energy for the last 3 years. We have published various reports and last year a public campaign in Bihar was launched to make Renewable Energy as the main political agenda. During this period of campaigning, Greenpeace along-with other Civil Society Organisations (CSO’s) managed to get all political parties to agree to work for Renewable Energy.

Job description:
Renewable Energy Campaigner – Patna. Do you want to be our campaigner in Patna who will help us showcase Bihar as the flag-bearer of a nation-wide revolution for renewable energy?

The applicant could be an Activist, Development Professional, Journalist, a Lawyer, a Researcher or just about anybody who agrees that the renewable energy is the future and key to mitigate the impact of climate change. He/she should have basic understanding of energy politics in India in general and Bihar in particular. While he/she may not have prior campaigning experience but a keen interest in issues of climate change and renewable is a must.
