India and the European Union (EU) are committed to an equal and dynamic dialogue on all areas of mutual of interest and concern as major actors in their own regions, and as emerging global players on the world stage. In today’s rapidly evolving international order, India and the EU are increasingly called upon to play major roles, both within their respective regions and beyond. The challenge for both is to strengthen the EU-India partnership through institutional and civil society frameworks and mechanisms that will sustain the necessary political will to fully realise all joint endeavours.

Description:

The delegation of the European Union to India is seeking proposals to promote integrated action at municipality level to reduce poverty and support inclusive and sustainable economic development.

The focus of this call will be the states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

The call for proposals was opened on August 26, 2011 under the theme of "Urban Local Bodies in Development for India". The deadline for submission of concept notes is 18 November 2011 at 16:00 hrs India Time.

EU will be organizing an information day for potential applicants on September 30, 2011, from 9.30 – 17.00 at New Delhi.

Venue: Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.
