The Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination (CDD) Society is a non-governmental organisation, started in 2002 and registered formally as non-profit society in 2005. The CDD Society aims to promote and improve the social, economic and environmental conditions of the less privileged, disadvantaged and marginalised in South Asia through the provision of decentralised basic needs services (DBNS).

Job description and responsibilities:

  • Core assignment of Urban Planner will be preparation of City Sanitation Plans (CSP) according to NUSP. CSP addresses sanitation problems in an integrated manner including technical, socioeconomic and legal aspects. The Urban Planner is, therefore, expected to
  • Formulate and develop project proposals,
  • Conduct surveys and field visits,
  • Collect, analyse and compile data,
  • Prepare City Sanitation Plans and reports,
  • Participate in sanitation conferences, workshops and seminars,
  • Provide support and input related to development of Standard
  • Operating Procedures (SOP) for preparation of Citywide
  • DBNS/City Sanitation Plans (CSP) for towns/cities,
  • Prepare and conduct capacity building activities,
  • Develop training material for capacity building
  • And prepare strategies for marketing of City Sanitation Planning

All assignment will be fulfilled under the supervision and guidance of Unit Coordinator of City Sanitation Planning Unit.

Qualification:
Master degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning and Management, Regional Planning, Sustainable Development or related areas. Persons with other qualifications but with adequate work experience in infrastructure planning and development, or provision of sanitation services may also be eligible. General knowledge or an understanding of development sector and sanitation/water sector is a major advantage.
Technical / Professional: Basic knowledge of AutoCAD/ArcGIS

  • Fluency in spoken English; additionally, knowledge of one or more local languages (Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, etc.)

Experience: Relevant industry in Governmental and Non-Governmental organisations, water and sanitation, regional and environmental planning, research institution

Max. Exp. 10 years

Remuneration:
Compensation in accordance with experience and qualifications

Other work:

  • Support to capacity building, technical, Research & Development,
  • Monitoring & Evaluation, and Marketing & Sales Unit at CDD SocietyFulfillment of any other work that may be assigned by the team
  • Leader/unit coordinator, technical adviser, Director or Authorised Representative of the Society

Desired profile:

  • Persons with adequate experience in environmental and sustainable management.
  • Persons with the ability to work independently, good organisational discipline and a clear awareness of quality are highly desirable.
  • Persons willing to undertake project related travelling.
