CMS Environment is a visionary initiative of CMS, a Delhi-based, nationally- functioning independent multidisciplinary organization, engaged for the past 20 years in research, policy advocacy, advisory services and programme evaluation in the domain of environment, social issues, public health, governance, development communications and transparency. CMS is also responsible for the internationally reputed CMS VATAVARAN: Environment and Wildlife Film Festival & Forum.
The Biodiversity Film Festival is being organized by CMS as part of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Global World Environment Day (WED) 2011 celebrations which is being hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. This year’s commemorations are expected to be the largest and most widely celebrated globally. The WED is an annual event of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) since 1972, and is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. WED activities take place all year round but climax on 5 June every year, involving everyone from everywhere.
CMS Environment invites you to enter your film in this year’s edition of the World Environment Day Biodiversity Film Festival 2011 in New Delhi. The theme of the festival is “Biodiversity”. Films may be of genre – documentary, fiction or non-fiction and must have been produced not earlier than January 1, 2007. There is no entry fee and no restriction on length of the film. Selected films will be screened at four locations in New Delhi, India, reaching out to 5,000 people comprising general public, defense personnel, children and others.
