About the HI-AWARE Academy
The ‘HI-AWARE Academy for Doctoral Students’ is a training program under the HI-AWARE initiative and is part of Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) Regional Programme of ICIMOD. It aims to create an interdisciplinary network of PhD students and senior scholars in ‘Water and Adaptation Studies’ in the South Asian region.
The selected students will be a part of the group of 6 other HI-AWARE supported PhD students. Regular meeting will take place every 9 months till September 2018 at different places in South Asia. The environment of the workshop will provide a unique opportunity for doctoral students to work together intensively to enhance individual research and engage in detailed discussions on common themes and methods with a group of scientists working in the south Asian region. Through presentations and focused sessions, students would be able to give and receive critical feedback on dissertation projects, fieldwork plans and preliminary results.
Students will be asked to read the work of their peers and prepare for workshop presentations linking their own work to, broader international studies on water and adaption issues. Students may also get one-to-one supervision with a senior scholar in their respective field depending on their needs. Once selected, the doctoral student will have to attend 3 workshops spanning from November 2016 to August 2018. The students will get full funding to participate in the workshops and further help would be provided such as capacity building on writing, editing and tuning the research towards policy objectives on needs basis.
