Advisory Services in Environmental Management (ASEM) develop, evaluate and implement projects and activities that aim at protecting the environment and its resources in India with sustainable and holistic approaches focusing on relevant sectors (urbanization, industrialization etc.) to address the priority needs of India so as to achieve verifiable environmental improvements.
Description:
Under the Indo German Development Cooperation, in the field of environment, GIZ is providing technical cooperation under the ASEM Programme to the identified partner agencies at central, state and local levels, on various identified priority topics.
One such priority topic is land use planning. GIZ-ASEM is initiating a project on “Improved Land Management to Reduce Conflict Potential between Competing Land Use Types”, in cooperation with the Department of Land Resources of the Ministry of Rural Development of the Government of India.
The proposed project mainly comprises technical and process-oriented consulting with national and international experts as well as support for multi-stakeholder dialogues with the stakeholders and parties to the conflict, and the representatives of relevant ministries and experts. In addition, measures for capacity expansion at ministerial and official level are proposed to be taken, including the training and development of socially and environmentally responsible land use planning instruments, and the mediation of knowledge management.
Position: Junior Advisor - “Improvement of Land Management to Mitigate the Potential Conflict of Competing Land Use Types in India”

Responsibilities:
Will be responsible for supporting the activities related to the project on “Improvement of Land Management to Mitigate the Potential Conflict of Competing Land Use Types in India” under the ongoing Advisory Services in Environmental Management (ASEM) Programme (and/or the new phase on Indo German Environment Partnership Programme, which will commence in early 2012).
Specific responsibilities are:
a) Assist in Planning, Coordination and Project Management
b) Technical Support/Review Tasks
c) Documentation and Dissemination Tasks
Qualification:
- Bachelor of Engineering/Technology or equivalent in relevant discipline; and
- Master of Urban Planning or Environmental Planning or Industrial Area Planning or equivalent.
- At least 2 years working experience in environmental planning/environmental management/pollution control
- Experience in programme/project planning, coordination and management
- Experience in working with an international organization and/or government organization is desirable.Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc). Skills in GIS are desirable.
- Excellent written and communication skills in English.
