About RRAN:
Revitalising Rainfed Agriculture Network advocates for enhanced and differentiated public investments and relevant support systems for rainfed agriculture in India. It is a platform of civil society organisations, science, research and academic institutions, individuals and donors, engaged with issues of rainfed agriculture systems.
 

RRAN members are implementing Comprehensive Pilots in different agro-ecological zones across India, aimed at bringing about systemic change, at scale. These Pilots bring together multiple themes that are crucial for rain dependent agriculture, and seek to build convergence across programmes, schemes and channels. Thematic support on subjects like soils, water, seeds, cropping systems, livestock, fisheries, millets and credit, institutions and markets is provided through partner organisations having expertise, experience and capacities to bridge the spectrum of science, practice and policy. RRAN collaborates on research nationally and globally, and works with the agriculture science institutions to generate credible evidence on science and practice so as to inform policy making and implementation that is responsive to the needs of rainfed India.

About the role:

RRAN is seeking a Communications Coordinator/Manager to be located at the network Secretariat. S/he will be responsible for strengthening RRAN’s advocacy agenda through evolving the communications strategy, developing the annual communications plan, and ensuring its implementation. The remit extends from documentation and developing materials for internal communications to RRAN’s external communications through presence in print, digital and social media. The focus is on translating RRAN’s work into communications products and campaigns.

Experience and competencies

The right candidate will have at least 8 years of communications experience within a complex (number and variety of constituents) organization and some experience working with the non profit sector in India. Ideally s/he will have 2 years in an “in-house” leadership role. The ability to work with and through others to transform knowledge into exciting and purposive communications products, and disseminate them to the right audiences through the best distribution channels, is critical.

We are looking for a person who is/has:

  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
  • Highly collaborative style
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial
  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies
  • Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence"
  • Enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives 

Familiarity with the subjects of agriculture, climate change and NRM, while not essential, will be an advantage.

Location: Preferably Delhi, else Bangalore or Hyderabad

Contract period: Two years, extendable

Reporting to: CEO
