About the event

Indian Biodiversity Congress (IBC) is the largest get together of scientists, conservationists, environmentalists, civil society groups and local communities concerned with biodiversity, organised with the objective to formulate a vision and alternate strategic plan for the conservation of biodiversity in the context of prevailing biodiversity loss and to make the people aware of the importance of biodiversity through expo and awareness programmes. The programme will be organised at Bangalore under the joint auspices of Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Foundation for Revitalisation of Local Health Traditions (FRLHT), Bangalore and Navdanya, Delhi.

Activities planned

  • National seminar,
  • Indain biodiversity expo showcasing the rich biodiversity heritage of India,
  • Capacity building workshops,
  • National photography competition,
  • Civil society meet,
  • Documentary film festival and children’s biodiversity conclave,
  • Politicians’ and conservationists’ meet on green politics will be organised along with IBC, which will be a common platform to discuss conservation Vs development paradigms and to discuss on the scope of mainstreaming biodiversity into policy making and developing green agenda for political parties to achieve sustainable development.

Registration fee

1) Seminar:

All participants should register to the Congress in the prescribed format up to 5th december 2012
Corporates (3 Participants) - INR 10,000
R&D Institutions (3 Participants) - INR 5,000
Faculty / scientists  - INR 2,000
Civil society - INR 1,000
*Students with fellowship - INR 1,000
*Students without fellowship - INR 750
Accompanying person - INR 750

  • 6th December 2012 onwards and spot registration : Rs. 2500/-for all categories.
  • Students must submit a copy of a valid student ID with their registration forms to benefit from the reduced rates.
  • The payment should be made through DD/Bankers Cheque in the name of CISSA, payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala

2) Expo:

  • The stall booking charges in exhibition pavilion: *Rs. 5,000/- for square meter;
  • Single stall  3m x 3m or 3m x 2m or 2m x 2m
  • Table space: *Rs. 10,000/-
  • In Table space display of the company profiles and product catalogues only are allowed
  • (*service tax and education cess extra.)

3) Civil society meet:

The CSOs can join the entire meet for four days with a registration fee of Rs. 1,000/-
