India WASH Summit

Background and Summit Agenda: 

In collaboration with the Government of India, other international NGOs, corporates, and representatives from state and central governments, this summit will bring together WASH stakeholders to share experiences and ideas on eliminating open defecation and ensure usable and functional facilities by 2019. This is in line with Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission that covers both urban and rural India. The summit will discuss a strategy for effective and speedy implementation at scale.  Participants will present technical papers on sanitation, hygiene and water and 300 people are expected to attend the summit.

Call for papers/contributions:

With these issues at the forefront, there are opportunities to bring hygiene and environmental sanitation to a larger scale, with more sustainable outcomes.  The summit will focus on the following, for all stages of the process, for achieving the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission: 

  1. Successful approaches to delivery of sustainable WASH services at scale
  2. Innovative Water supply methods
  3. Urban sanitation technology
  4. Innovations in hygiene behaviour change
  5. Institutional gaps and how to overcome them to equip the sector with the right skills and knowledge
  6. Mainstreaming equity and inclusion within Institutions
  7. Financing WASH
