The International Riversymposium is the world’s preeminent international conference on rivers and basins, offering internationally recognised speakers, bountiful networking opportunities and a unique opportunity for collaboration between sectors.
The 18th International Riversymposium has an overarching theme of Healthy Rivers – Healthy Economies, a topical subject given the recent announcement from the World Economic Forum that water-related issues pose the greatest risk to world stability over the coming decade. The three-day program will encourage engagement between communities, scientists, policy makers, river professionals and the many business sectors and industries who depend on high quality water and healthy rivers. Interactive sessions and compelling speakers will delve into over 20 hot topics, catering for the diverse interests of delegates from around the world.
Special events within the program include a full-day Wetland Symposium, a Large River Basins Forum, the first ever Young Professionals Day and an outstanding social program with unrivalled networking opportunities. The best of the best in river management will also be showcased throughout the conference and at the Gala Dinner with the prestigous Riverprize award ceremony. Renowned for its sub-tropical climate, Brisbane provides a breathtaking setting for the Riversymposium with the venue situated just a short walk from the river. Post-conference study tours will offer the chance to explore the river city and its surrounds as well as the world-famous Great Barrier Reef – truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.
