This is done envisioning a classroom exercise where children can be divided into groups and work on different chorus or group lines and couplets, and present that to the rest of the class. Questy and Quest play the sutradhars.
Quest and Questy: Hey people of the world! Any water related activities you can think of?
People of the world: Yes! Tons
Quest and Questy: What kind?
People of the world: Many kinds…Like Sport, to begin with!
Rich sport, poor sport,
Boats on rivers, rivers on boat…
Ride in a piece of inflated rubber, eating biscuit and oat,
Or row hard squatting on wood…Surf, fish, float
Quest and Questy: This is exciting!
People of the world, what else do we do with water?
A group shouts, from the people of the world crowd:
For some of us, its livelihood champs!
Fisherfolk: Fisherfolk and a few like us,
Live off water and not much land,
We harvest things we can eat, and can sell on sand,
Farmers: We are brothers to our water men; we are farmers, the food men
We work on land, which needs water, and this water is godsend,
We make food grow 'fore it's packed and sent
Quest and Questy: People of the world, can you tell us more? Who works where and with water more?
People of the world (potw):
Oh there's a lot to do and with water too!
Some pretty rough, some pretty cool
We've been working and toiling to build towns & cities, roads & loos
Where water plays the important hero and we build around with many a tool
Chorus from (potw):
Our friends who implement technology and biology
Individuals who mime being these professions (potw) step out and say aloud:
Aquatic Entomologist, Agricultural Engineer
Chorus:
And there are some other fancy names too
Limnologist, Malacologist, Marine Geologist, Marine Conservationist, Oceanographer
Chorus:
Some Jazzy, some modest but very essential resources and few
Boat Builder, Potter, Plumber, Commercial Fisherman
Chorus:
Some help us process our city wastes, some help with research too
Biosolids Specialist, Wastewater Treatment Engineer, Desalination Plant Director
Chorus:
And then, there are others who are champions too!
Olympic/Professional Swimmer
Chorus:
Oh we almost forgot some everyday ones,
Botanist, Chemist, College/University Professor, Chemical Engineer
Chorus:
And yes, even a Photographer!
Here's some other creative ones to choose from, when mamma and papa's advice sounds boring to you!
Aquarium Director, Yachtsman, Coast Guard
