SRI Dhaan, a film on the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) in Assam - Brings forth the experiences of practicing farmers

SRI Dhaan is a film that would be used primarily as part of a training module for 'System of Rice Intensification' or SRI.

The film focuses on the scientific attributes of SRI, its benefits and implications.

'SRI Dhaan' also tries to bring forth the experiences of the practicing farmers who have reaped the benefits of SRI across different communities residing in Bongaigaon - Chirang region of Western Assam.

SRI or System of Rice Intensification is an innovative and effective method of cultivating paddy. It was developed in Madagascar in 1983. It is now being followed in many parts of the world including India. The method aims at achieving full potential of a paddy plant and ensures high yield.

The film has been produced by Seven Sisters Development Assistance (SeSTA) in collaboration with Jajaboree Productions, Assam.

Seven Sisters Development Assistance (SeSTA) is an evolving professionally managed development organisation in Northeast India (NE-India). The idea of SeSTA was conceived by a group of young development professionals in the year 2011 to catalyse development activities in NE-India though the process of "Nirman" (constructive development) by working for improved livelihood system and better wellbeing status of rural community of the region. It has been registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860.

Jajaboree Productions is a film and video production house. It strives to create socially and culturally relevant works of art. At its helm are narratives and stories of the marginalized sections of our society. It delves on subjects as diverse as human rights and people's source of livelihood to art and culture.
