IDRF Bihar flood appeal september 2008
First acitivity report on bihar flood
Dear Friend,
I am sure you are aware of the worst disaster that has just occurred in Bihar, causing displacement of about 2.5 million people living in almost 1,000 villages on the eastern and western sides of the Kosi River - notoriously called the "Sorrow of Bihar". Hundreds of thousands of people have been forced to live under the open sky or on embankments, roads, and rooftops, etc - waiting for a helping hand. The severity of this disaster has really challenged all the government and private agencies in India to join hands for immediately aiding the rescue and relief operations. These unfortunate victims of natural tragedy will also require very significant coordinated efforts towards their rehabilitation.
IDRF has always been in the forefront of helping the needy and poor in India, which has been possible only because of your spontaneous as well as sustained financial support for such humanitarian services. I am confident that you will come forward not only with your own generous contributions but would also spread this message among your family and friends.
I have attached our Fundraising Appeal as well as an Activity Report providing an outline of the ongoing rescue and relief operations by our partner NGOs in India. As before, we would like to assure you once again, that we are very particular about an effective and efficient use of your hard-earned money. In brief, we remain accountable not only to the US official agencies, but more importantly to you as our benefactor and patron.
Information on how you can extend your helping hand is provided in the attached Appeal.
Regards,
Vinod Prakash
