Knowledge of ground water monitoring is pre-requisite for sustainable management of ground water in an area. Water level monitoring as well as understanding about its quality need to be exercised at community level enabling them to take decision on common resource. Management strategies and system formed by the communities  are generally time tested as per local conditions and agreed by all in coomunities. i am in process of compiling case studies in india, where communities are taking lead in monitoring ground water and managing system with their own startegies. information in this regard may be shared.
